Level up of protection with the Gorilla Glass 5

Smartphone screens consider the most important part of the device, and if these screen busted we complain a lot, the good news is dropping your handset may soon be much less distressing, like what you can see in cellular country complaints.

New York glass manufacturer Corning has revealed the newest technology of Gorilla Glass, which the company promises is four times as most likely to endure a fall from waist or shoulder height as its rivals. The Gorilla Glass products has been used in billions of devices since 2007, together with products from Apple, Samsung, LG, Motorola and more based to its website.

From a global survey reported by Corning discovered that 85% of phone users have dropped their devices at minimum once in the past year and that 55% have dropped their handsets three or a lot more times in the past year. It’s no surprise that quickly broken screens rank among the most consistent complaint from smartphone users.

Within the laboratory test, Corning dropped phones facing down on to rough surfaces from waist and shoulder high, thinking that many accidents occur while putting the handset in the pocket or taking a photo. Gorilla Glass 5 remains whole after falls from about five feet roughly 80% of the time, the company says.

How Gorilla Glass forged?

The Corning put glass into a hot bath of molten salt that cooks up to 752 degrees Fahrenheit. The procedure causes sodium ions to depart the glass, and potassium ions from the salt shower replace them. Since the potassium ions are much larger, they generate a layer of compression stress deep inside the glass that withstands damage.

Gorilla Glass is barely the first technology for the 160 years old Corning. Industry analyst at IDC William Stofega said “Fewer mobile phone carriers and manufacturers are offering subsidies to purchase new phones, which has contributed to more consumers leasing devices or paying full retail price. Gorilla Glass 5 and its promise to be less breakable could give some devices a marketing advantage,”

“Everyone is paying top dollar for premium devices (and) these devices have been prone to shattering, Honestly, despite the fact everyone looks at brand, display is a really important part of the retail sales process.”
